Former CSSHL student-athletes Sam Auld, Von Lakovic and Josh Polak have signed WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective teams.
A four year student-athlete at St. George’s School, Auld was a relied upon source of offense for in each division. Auld posted a career season high in goals in his final U18 Prep season, scoring 21 goals in 33 games with the Saints. Initially undrafted into the WHL, Auld would impress at the Portland Winterhawks’ training camp and preseason where he landed 4 points (3G, 1A) in four game played, leading to his eventual signing earlier last week.
Lakovic played a single season with RHA Kelowna’s U15 team back in the 2022-23 CSSHL Season. The West Kelowna, BC native captured 11-points in his rookie campaign before being drafted the following season by his hometown Kelowna Rockets. Lakovic would sign with the Rockets for the 2026/27 season after playing a single game with the club last season. Lakovic’s older brother, Lynden (also a CSSHL alumni), is considered a top prospect of the Washington Capitals after being selected in the first round of the NHL Draft in 2025.
Joining Shawnigan Lake School’s U18 Prep team in 2022-23, Polak acquired 17-points in his first CSSHL season. Entering his second season with Shawnigan, the Sherwood Park, AB native would become their leading scorer with an immaculate 53-points through 30 games played. Polak was drafted by the Seattle Thunderbirds back in 2021, signing his contract this past weekend to play as an overager for the franchise. Polak is commited to the University of Minnesota-Duluth for the 2027/28 season.
