North Shore Warriors (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy (1) U17
Upset alert in the first game of day as North Shore entered the matchup on a six-game skid and winless in their first two meetings with Delta this season. They flipped the script with the help of Henry Lockhart (1G) when he opened the scoring with one minute left in the opening frame. The Nort Shore Warriors doubled their lead early in the second as Arjun Gill (1G) struck on the power play, converting a feed from Grayson Hunter (1A). Delta, who heavily outshot North Shore in their previous two meetings, pushed back again in this one and finally broke through when Graeme Burke (1G) got one passed Ben Boudreau (59/60). He faced 60 shots, including a 23-shot barrage in the third, delivering a standout performance to secure the Warriors’ first win against Delta this season.
Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs St. George’s School (6) U17 Prep
St. George’s entered the game on a three-game win streak and fresh off a 4–2 win over Shawnigan earlier in the week, and they carried that momentum immediately as Logan Okamura (1G) opened the scoring on the power play before Alex Rode (2G) added two more to make it 3–0 after one. St. George’s kept rolling early in the second when Adam Benn (2G) pushed the lead to four just 1:34 in, but Shawnigan, who have struggled recently with a 3–7 record in their last ten, finally responded with goals from Cache Thomas (1G) and Ellis Thurmeier (1G) to cut the deficit in half. A third-period push brought Shawnigan within one when Carson Peet (1G, 2A) struck for his 12th of the season, but St. George’s locked things down from there as Sammy Hoeft (1G) restored the cushion and Benn added his second late to secure the win.
North Shore Warriors (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6/SO) U15 Prep
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy exploded out of the gate with first-period goals from Theodore Erickson (1G), Brayden Lindsay (1G, 1A), and Jamie Davidson (2G), but North Shore answered with a massive four-goal second period as Liam McMorran (1G), Brody Watson (1G), Will Thompson (2G, 2A), and Quinn Herman (1G, 1A) flipped a 3–0 deficit into a 4–3 lead. Davidson’s second of the game tied it late in the frame before Thompson buried a power-play marker with 21 seconds left to restore the North Shore lead. In a matchup between two teams with identical 3–7 records in their last ten, the third stayed tied until Herman (1G, 1A) put North Shore ahead 5–4 midway through, but Matthew Lavoie (1G) responded with one minute left to force overtime. After a scoreless extra frame, PCHA pulled out of the shootouts 2-1 to grab the 6-5 win.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) vs North Shore Warriors (1) U15
Pacific Coast continued their season-long dominance over North Shore as they’re already 3–0 against them entering the day. PCHA broke the game open with a massive second period en route to a 4–1 win. After a scoreless first, the special teams battle tilted sharply in PCHA’s favour as Gus Steeves (1G) struck on the power play at 6:47, followed by another man-advantage goal from Tate Davis (1G) three minutes later, and an even-strength marker from Finnegan Follick (1G) just nine seconds after that to make it 3–0. North Shore finally got one back when Max Darlow (1G) converted on the power play late in the second period. But despite a chaotic, penalty-filled second period, the North Shore Warriors, winless at home this season, couldn’t generate a push in the third and Koen Nicholas (1G, 1A) sealed the win with an empty-netter at 18:36. Sawyer Elke (23/24) stopped all but one shot to earn his second victory against North Shore this season.
North Shore Warriors (3) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
The Pacific Coast Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep contingent did an excellent job at the start of November, winning their first four, but fell off as the month went on, losing their last three consecutive, heading into a game with the North Shore Warriors. A pair of games against STAR Hockey Academy follow this one for PCHA, who came out of the gates firing, dominating the first forty minutes. They’d hit the Warriors’ net with 34 shots in the first two periods, and an excellent showing from Owen Bate (1G, 2A) led PCHA’s way to a 4-1 lead through two. North Shore’s third-period pushback featured an early goal from Zack Griffiths to make things close. With 31 seconds left in the third, Marshall Lyons scored for North Shore to make things a one-goal contest, but that’s as close as the Warriors would get.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Notre Dame Hounds (8) U17
The Notre Dame Hounds’ U17 squad came to play when it mattered most against RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg on Friday: The third period. Notre Dame controlled and led through two periods of play, but RHA Winnipeg stuck around, tying the game in the first and keeping the game within a goal in the second. However, Notre Dame outshot RHAW 18-2 in the third period, and the offence followed. Dominik Chartrand (2G, 2A) scored his first of two goals just 11 seconds into the third period, the first of four for Notre Dame in the final twenty minutes. Devin Doyle scored twice, and three points apiece from Paul Abrametz (1G, 2A) and Peter Forbes (1G, 2A) led the Hounds to an 8-2 victory.
Notre Dame Hounds (1) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (9) U18 Prep
Two teams at the opposite ends of the U18 Prep standings faced off on Friday. The U18 Prep division would see one upset on Friday, but unfortunately for the Notre Dame Hounds, they couldn’t produce an effort to rival the South Alberta Hockey Academy. SAHA hit the Notre Dame net with 31 shots in the second period alone, but didn’t need even half of the hockey game to post five goals against the Hounds. Notre Dame stemmed the tide after allowing eight through two periods, but the damage was done. Ty Wasyluk scored a hat-trick, and Karter Kurpjuweit (2G, 2A) notched four points in SAHA’s 9-1 win.
Edge School (2) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U18 Prep
Two of the U18 Prep division’s heavyweights clashed in Edmonton on Friday, and the game wouldn’t have disappointed any onlooking neutrals, with the back-and-forth affair seeing 70 shots in total. After Ben Shaw (2G) scored the only goal of the first for OHAE, Edge School tied the game at two separate points in the second. Despite that, OHA Edmonton still escaped the second period with the lead. Both Edge School goals met OHAE responses in the second, with Ben Shaw again having the final say, scoring the last of the four goals in the period. Edge School’s comeback efforts in the third were stifled first by Dysen Loewen (38/40) in the OHAE crease and then finished off by Bronsyn Mouille’s (1G, 1A) late powerplay goal to end the game at 4-2 OHAE.
Delta Hockey Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep
Delta Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep squad had played 13 CSSHL games in the first three months of the season. Heading into Friday’s clash with the Okanagan Hockey Academy, they’d won 12 of them, and seven consecutive. The Okanagan Hockey Academy haven’t been disappointing this season, but Delta’s stellar record made them the favourites heading in. OHA, though, were the squad to grab hold of the steering wheel in this one and remain in control throughout. They’d lead 2-1 through one, add another in the second, and lock the door on any Delta pushback throughout. Wade Gallamore (1G, 1A) made it 4-1 with less than five to play in the third, and while Delta pulled back within two, OHA’s Charlie Peppinck (35/37) shut the door on any opportunity Delta would have to get a result out of the contest. Ben Fragle’s first of the season in the second period stood as the game winner in OHA’s 5-2 victory.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) vs BWC Academy (3) U15
BWC’s U15 squad had a mixed bag of results in November, but have remained consistently scoring goals all season long. Mars Zhang has been one of the most prolific scorers in the division this season, and he scored in the second period to maintain his goal-per-game record, now up to 20 in 20. BWC grabbed two points from Pavel Morozov (1G, 1A) and 19 saves on 19 shots from Lachlan Beatty en route to the 3-0 win.
BWC Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3/OT) U17
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna have turned the tide on what was a difficult start to the U17 season, having won four of their previous five games heading into Friday’s clash. Their game against Burnaby Winter Club was an opportunity to improve their record above .500, having won nine and lost nine in regulation thus far. In the sixty minutes, RHAK never led. BWC led 1-0 and 2-1, but both times they hit the front, RHAK fought back to tie the game. Markus Demonte and Max Joseph (1G, 1A) scored for BWC, with Myeongcheol Sung and Otis Jacques responding for RHA Kelowna. Come overtime, Lochlan Shaw picked the perfect time to score his first goal of the season, winning it for RHA Kelowna in a dramatic come-from-behind fashion.
